This video documents a collective action based on an installation of the same name, inspired by Hitchcock’s film Birds.
Since ancient times, we’ve dreamed of flight. The idea of ascending under our own power—moving through the skies—suggests wisdom and divine status.
The installation consists of 14 winged machines attached to the wall and linked to participants via ropes, cranks, and ceiling pulleys.
As the wings activate, shadows projected on the wall create the illusion of flight.
The repeated gesture proposes a ritualized training, preparing us to escape—by flying—when the end of the world arrives.
