Walking through Casa França in Rio de Janeiro—once the city’s first customs house—dressed as a medusa during Franz Weissmann’s solo exhibition Ritmo e Movimento, I existed as both a foreigner and a guest.
I surrounded and flirted with the monumental metal sculptures using a soft sculpture of my own.
If I could connect with someone, I offered a part of myself.
Outside, I crossed the street, where someone mentioned a building with a golden ring inside.
I performed an intimate ritual there.
I work with the textures of skin and the sense of touch.
I sew soft sculptures and wrap myself in them, moving through public space to create a dialogue between artwork, site, and audience.
This process multiplies creative spaces and promotes a view of art as a system of communication, as opposed to a mere object of contemplation.
