Paleca is a project that explores celebration as a form of resistance and as an expression of existing.

The name Paleca comes from Nahuatl _place of colorful earth_, referencing the colored plaster deposits found in the area.

It’s also the name of the avenue where both my home and my mother’s home is.

Inspired by Latin American patron saint festivities and the concept of the Via Crucis, I created a celebration as an action to welcome healing and reconciliation.

Themes of home, motherhood, and celebration serve as the foundation of this work.

The cakes symbolizes celebrations like birthdays it plays a key role in the family.

The piece traces a symbolic journey of reconciliation, starting from Juan Bertis Avenue and moving towards Paleca.

This path represents care and tenderness, while also acknowledging the adversities of social constructs.

This project is dedicated to all mothers, daughters, and sons walking paths to restore and heal bonds.
