“Martillos” is a video performance and installation that uses the hammer to explore the concept of purpose.

If the hammer exists solely to drive nails, but in fulfilling its purpose it destroys itself, was it worth it?

The hammer becomes a martyr. Could it exist to serve a purpose that doesn’t lead to its own destruction?

As human beings, we must ask ourselves: what is our purpose?

Looking at the past, we see that human history can be narrated as a sequence of violent acts.

Do we exist only to destroy? And if the answer is yes, won’t we ultimately lead ourselves to self-destruction?
